As Osight's first red dot optic purpose-built for rifles, the Osight R is designed around rapid target acquisition and flexible platform integration.

With iron sights, the shooter must align the rear sight, front sight, and target, while a red dot provides a more direct aiming reference once the rifle is zeroed.
Unlike magnified optics with strict eye boxes, a red dot utilizes collimated reflected light, offering virtually unlimited eye relief and exceptional tolerance for head placement variations. The shooter can keep both eyes open, stay focused on the target, and retain their situational awareness—spending less time repositioning the head and establishing a faster sight picture.

From Close to Far: Speed Meets Precision
The Osight R's large viewing window—measuring 1.10 × 0.87 inches (28 × 22 mm)—gives you more room to pick up the reticle. Even with slight changes in head position or shooting stance, the reticle remains easy to acquire. While it can seem downright luxurious during leisurely plinking and zeroing, that generous viewing window is vital in fast-paced training and competition. Whether bouncing between targets in fractions of a second or returning fire on the move, a bigger window translates to higher hit probability.

From the Range to the Field: Keeping a Clear Sight Picture
The Osight R includes removable front and rear transparent lens covers. They help protect the lenses from dust, snow, everyday bumps, and scratches during storage, transport, and field use. When ready to use, simply flip the covers open for a clear sight picture. If a cover is damaged, it can be replaced separately.
The package also includes a honeycomb anti-reflection device (ARD), which can be installed in place of the front lens cover. It reduces glare and visible reflections from the objective lens, helping limit the optic's forward reflection signature. It also adds another layer of physical protection for the objective lens.

Built into Your Rifle Setup: Three Heights, More Flexibility
Mounting height directly affects sightline, head position, and cheek weld. The right height allows the reticle to enter the sight picture naturally when the rifle is shouldered.
The included 1.535" Lower 1/3 Co-Witness Mount fits most common AR setups, while the 1.21" and 1.93" mounts are available as optional accessories.

The Osight R uses the Micro T1/T2 footprint. With the appropriate mount, the Osight R can be configured for different sight heights and paired with aftermarket mounts from brands such as Scalarworks, Reptilia, Unity, and ADM—giving shooters more freedom to choose a setup based on their rifle, shooting position, and existing equipment.

Night Vision Integration: Maintaining a Clear Sight Picture
During passive aiming with night-vision gear, the reticle must remain within a dedicated ultra-low brightness spectrum. Standard daytime settings can cause severe tube blooming and obscure target details. The Osight R's dedicated NV modes keep the reticle crisp without washing out ambient imaging.
The Osight R provides 9 daytime and 3 night-vision brightness levels. A dedicated NV shortcut button switches between modes. Brightness memory recalls the previously selected setting, helping shooters return quickly to a familiar sight picture.

Reliability Proven Under Extreme Conditions
True reliability is not measured by routine shooting alone. The optic must also withstand unexpected impact and extreme conditions. To verify the Osight R's performance, Osight conducted 6 torture tests:
AR-15 Upper Receiver Impact: The lens remained intact, and the reticle stayed illuminated.
Steel Sledgehammer Strike: The optic body remained intact, and the reticle continued to display normally.
Water Truck Crush Test: Only the removable front lens cover was damaged; the optic body remained intact and operational.
Helicopter High-Altitude Drop Test: The optic was dropped from 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1,000 feet, culminating in a drop from one mile. Throughout the tests, the housing remained intact and the Osight R continued to operate.
Freeze Test: The Osight R was completely frozen in solid ice while remaining powered on and functional.
Blowtorch Test: The optic was exposed to direct, high-intensity flames, and the Osight R remained fully powered and functional throughout.
